Saw a black dog painting
by the house tonight
red tongue lolling
eyes all white
I can't turn a corner
just can't let my guard down

without it being there

Underneath a flimsy pavement
We buried, smiling, a raging bog
We were cocky, young and callous
I guess we had nothing else to do
And all the while it lay in waiting
and took on the form of a charcoal dog
